Lioness inspired initiative for equal access

We work alongside the FA, Youth Sport Trust and Barclays to bring this programme, for FREE, to all of our schools in Lancaster, Heysham, Morecambe but also SOUTH LAKES! Having LHSSN means that we are in post to be able to bring opportunities like this to you. There are primary & secondary & SEND school variations.

Through the Barclays Girls Football School Partnership (BGFSP) schools can access :

It is all part of The Lionesses (England Ladies Football team) campaign to give more girls the opportunity to play football. All schools should now be working towards Equal Access in their PE & Sport offer.

School Games

Targeted local activities

We are the School Games Organisers for Lancaster (Steven) & Heysham (Tim). This is a 3 day a week role funded by the government to help improve the health of local young people. Often we come together with our colleagues in Wyre, Fylde & Blackpool for coastal activities as well as local events & initiatives supported by both Active Lancashire & sponsored by Spar UK.

The Lancashire Games

Competitive Opportunities Leading to County Finals!

For LHSSN Member schools only; In addition to the School Games which is based on participation & inclusive activity; we also offer competitive pathway events. These feed through from local events to district winners & then onto represent Team Lancaster or Team Heysham… & possibly even Team South Lakes… at our County Finals. These take place in prestigious venues like Blackpool’s Winter Gardens (Dance), Fleetwood Town’s Poolefoot Farm Training Complex (Boys, girls & small schools football), & Stanley Park (Athletics).

Much like many of the opportunities we provide; events like these can only happen as part of our LHSSN membership because the schools involved asked us to continue them & we were able to via our membership system alongside county colleagues who offer a similar model.

If your school would like to be involved please contact us. If enough South Lakes schools wish to be involved & join those already signed up, we will add your own ‘qualification section’ in the Games, so please encourage your colleagues to get in touch!
